Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Chrystia Freeland announced an extension of COVID-19 emergency economic benefits through June 5, 2021.

Application Now Open for Ontario’s Small Business Support Grant
January 15, 2021
This morning the Ontario government announced that applications for the new Ontario Small Business Support Grant is now open. The previously announced grant provides a minimum of $10,000 to a maximum of $20,000 to eligible small businesses whose operations have been restricted due to the Province-wide Shutdown.

Provincewide Shutdown Announced for December 26
December 21, 2020
Today, the Ontario government announced the province will enter a second provincewide shutdown starting Saturday December 26 at 12:01 am. A provincewide lockdown is needed to reduce COVID transmission, prevent people travelling between regions and preserve health system capacity. The five public health units in the north will be in lockdown for two weeks, while Southern Ontario will be in lockdown for four weeks. The Chief Medical Officer of Health will be monitoring the data and will assess if it is safe to lift the restrictions or if they need to be extended.

New COVID-19 Restrictions Announced to Limit Spread in Ontario

Today, Premier Doug Ford, Deputy Premier and Minister of Health Christine Elliott, Minister of Finance Rod Phillips and Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. David Williams announced further measures to limit community transmission of COVID-19. The province is moving certain public health unit regions to new levels in the Keeping Ontario Safe and Open Framework.

Today, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, alongside Minister of Families, Children and Social Development Ahmed Hussen announced a $1 billion investment to launch the new Rapid Housing Initiative which will support the development of affordable housing units. Almost $300 million of this new housing investment will go to Ontario’s large municipalities.
