Ontario Increasing Restrictions to Limit the Spread of COVID-19
April 16, 2021
This afternoon, the Ontario government, in consultation with the Chief Medical Officer of Health, announced a tightening of restrictions across the province in an effort to further limit mobility and slow the spread of COVID-19. These actions are intended to protect our hospital and ICU capacity whose occupancy are at their highest level and to allow more time to vaccinate Ontarians.

Ontario Declares Third Provincial State of Emergency
April 7, 2021
This afternoon, in consultation with Chief Medical Officer of Health and other health experts, the Ontario government announced it is enacting a third declaration of provincial emergency under s 7.0.1 (1) of the Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act (EMPCA) and a province-wide Stay-at-Home Order effective Thursday, April 8, 2021 at 12:01 a.m. for at least four weeks.

Ontario Announces Provincewide “Emergency Brake” Shutdown
April 1, 2021
This afternoon, Premier Doug Ford announced a provincewide “emergency brake” effective Saturday, April 3, 2021 at 12:01 a.m. for at least four weeks to try to control the third wave of the COVID-19 pandemic. The decision was made in consultation with the Chief Medical Officer of Health and other health experts. The COVID-19 Response Framework will pause as the emergency brake comes into place.

Application Now Open for Ontario’s Small Business Support Grant
January 15, 2021
This morning the Ontario government announced that applications for the new Ontario Small Business Support Grant is now open. The previously announced grant provides a minimum of $10,000 to a maximum of $20,000 to eligible small businesses whose operations have been restricted due to the Province-wide Shutdown.

Federal Government Announces New $1 Billion Rapid Housing Initiative

Today, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, alongside Minister of Families, Children and Social Development Ahmed Hussen announced a $1 billion investment to launch the new Rapid Housing Initiative which will support the development of affordable housing units. Almost $300 million of this new housing investment will go to Ontario’s large municipalities.

Provincewide Shutdown Announced for December 26
December 21, 2020
Today, the Ontario government announced the province will enter a second provincewide shutdown starting Saturday December 26 at 12:01 am. A provincewide lockdown is needed to reduce COVID transmission, prevent people travelling between regions and preserve health system capacity. The five public health units in the north will be in lockdown for two weeks, while Southern Ontario will be in lockdown for four weeks. The Chief Medical Officer of Health will be monitoring the data and will assess if it is safe to lift the restrictions or if they need to be extended.
