Today the Ontario government released safety guidelines to protect workers, customers and the general public from COVID-19. This guidance is meant to help businesses get prepared for the gradual reopening of the Ontario economy.
The government released 61 technical sector-specific guidelines from Ontario’s health and safety associations which will provide direction to those working in specific areas including retail, health care, construction and transportation. These guidelines feature recommendations to help employers and employees remain safe as they prepare to open. More workplace safety guidelines for more sectors will be coming in the near future.
The Premier still did not give a date for when stage 1 would take place but stressed that the good news on the virus’ spread the past few days means that day is getting closer.
In addition, the government announced that 58 new inspectors will be joining the existing provincial labour inspectors to help communicate COVID-19 safety guidelines and enforce emergency measures.
