TORONTO – April 16, 2018 – Sussex Strategy Group, one of Canada’s premier government relations and strategic communications firms, is pleased to announce that John Glicksman has joined the Energy and Environment Practice as a Senior Counsel.
John is a well-known leader in the electricity utility business in Ontario, having previously served as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer for PowerStream, a community-owned energy company with over $1.1 billion in assets providing power and related services to more than 360,000 customers in communities located immediately north of Toronto and in Central Ontario. John led the analysis and assessment of the financial aspects of negotiating and implementing the amalgamation of Hydro Vaughan, Markham Hydro and Richmond Hill Hydro, the purchase of Aurora Hydro, the merger with Barrie Hydro, the purchase of 50% of Collus PowerStream, and more recently the amalgamation of PowerStream, Enersource and Horizon Utilities and the accompanying purchase of Hydro One Brampton, creating Alectra Inc. John served as part of the executive team negotiating all commercial aspects of these transactions, and maintained leadership over customer service, regulatory affairs and government relations.
John has experience in all utility strategic and financial matters as they related to financial management, budgeting and cost benefit analysis, forecasting needs, establishment of new businesses and the securing of new debt & equity funding, as well as rate filings and evidence at the Ontario Energy Board. Prior to his tenure at PowerStream, John has also served as Vice President, Finance, Hydro One Networks, and in a variety of senior management roles at Ontario Hydro.
John holds an MBA from the University of Toronto, a BSc in Math from McGill University, and is a graduate of Governance Essentials for Directors of Not-For-Profit Organizations, the Institute of Corporate Directors and Rotman School of Management, University of Toronto, and of Driving Corporate Performance, Harvard University. He is a Standing Member of Financial Executives International (Toronto Chapter), Board Member and Treasurer, Character Community Foundation of York Region, and a former Board Member and Member of the Audit & Finance Committee, Toronto Canadian Mental Health Association.
