Raman Singh brings nine years of strategic communications and issues management experience to the Sussex team. Prior to joining Sussex, Raman worked at Toronto Metropolitan University (formerly known as Ryerson University) as the Manager of Communications and Issues, where she provided communications counsel, planning, expertise and support for the emerging and ongoing reputational issues at the university. Previous to her role at TMU, she worked in public affairs at the Ontario Medical Association (OMA), handling a diverse portfolio that included all facets of communications—media relations, social media, communications planning, strategy development, and issues management during a high-profile labour negotiations period between government and physicians.
Her work with the OMA earned several awards including a 2014 Golden Quill Merit Award for Government Relations from the International Association of Business Communicators and an Honourable Mention for the Best Social Media Healthcare Advocacy Campaign in 2015 at The Ragan PR Daily Digital PR & Social Media Awards.
Raman holds a Bachelor of Arts Honours degree from the University of Toronto and a Masters degree in Professional Communication from Toronto Metropolitan University, in addition to a variety of professional certificates including a certificate in Crisis Leadership in Higher Education from the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University.
In 2021, Raman was selected as a Civic Action DiverseCity Fellow, an award-winning leadership experience for diverse rising leaders in the greater Toronto region.
