Ontario’s 2021 Fall Economic Statement: Building the Foundation for Re-Election

This afternoon, Ontario’s Finance Minister, the Hon. Peter Bethlenfalvy, delivered his first Fall Economic Statement. Titled Build Ontario and informally billed as “a pivot to economic recovery,” today’s Fall Economic Statement unofficially kicks off the 2022 election campaign (if it hadn’t started already). The document also clearly lays out the Ford government’s vision for post-pandemic Ontario – one that relies on infrastructure and other major building projects to drive economic growth and create solutions to Ontario’s significant labour shortfall.
