Terry Young Joins Sussex Strategy Group

Sussex Strategy Group is pleased to welcome Terry Young to the firm as Senior Counsel in our Energy Practice.

Prior to joining Sussex, Terry had an extensive career at Ontario’s Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO.) As Interim President and CEO, Terry led the organization through its ongoing response to the pandemic and set a path forward for the competitive acquisition of resources to meet the province’s emerging energy needs. As the IESO’s Vice President for Policy, Engagement and Innovation, he was responsible for a range of portfolios, including stakeholder and community engagement, government relations, communications, and for the development and delivery of the Operator’s province-wide electricity conservation programs. He also held responsibility for Indigenous Relations and was instrumental in bringing conservation programs to Indigenous communities across the province.

Since retiring from the IESO, Terry has stayed active in the energy sector: He is the Chair of the Board for the Grandbridge Energy Local Distribution Company, and is particularly active in the area of energy storage and distributed energy resources.

With over 30 years of experience in the energy sector, Terry brings an unparalleled level of knowledge and expertise to the role of Senior Counsel, adding even greater depth and insight to our firm’s already extensive sector expertise.

We hope you will join us in welcoming Terry to the firm and encourage you to reach out to any member of the Energy Team should you want to learn more about how Sussex can help your organization navigate the rapidly changing Ontario energy landscape.
